How to connect a custom domain

If you own a domain — for example from a registrar like Namecheap or Porkbun — you can connect it to your wedding website for a short, memorable address on invitations and QR codes. Married Next handles the security (SSL) for you.

Connecting a custom domain is a Premium upgrade. The domain itself isn’t included — you bring one you already own. If you don’t have the upgrade yet, you’ll see “Make it yours with a custom domain” with an option to unlock it.

Where to find it

1. Sign into your Married Next account at https://marriednext.com

2. Navigate to https://marriednext.com/engaged/settings?tab=website

3. Scroll to the custom domain section — “Use a domain you already own” — “Point your existing domain here by updating its DNS records.”

Step 1 — Add your domain

1. In the domain field, type the domain you want to connect — without https:// — for example yourdomain.com. (The helper text reads “Enter the domain you want to connect (without https://).”)

2. Select the “Connect” button. It will read “Connecting…” while it saves.

Step 2 — Update your DNS records

After connecting, Married Next shows the DNS records you need to add at your domain registrar, in a table with “Type,” “Name,” and “Value” columns (each with a copy button).

1. Copy each record from the table.

2. Add them wherever your domain is registered. The section notes: “Add these records wherever your domain is registered. Changes can take up to 48 hours.”

If the records table is empty, select “Check now” to load them.

Step 3 — Verify the connection

1. Once your DNS records are in place, select the “Check now” button (it reads “Checking…” while it runs).

2. Until it’s verified, the status reads “Waiting for DNS — we check automatically.” Married Next keeps re-checking in the background, so you can leave and come back.

3. When it succeeds, the status reads “Domain active — nothing to do” and the domain shows a “Connected” badge.

DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to take effect. If verification doesn’t pass right away, wait a bit and select “Check now” again. Double-check that each record’s Type, Name, and Value exactly match the table.

Removing a custom domain

To disconnect a domain, select the remove (trash) button next to it and confirm in the “Remove custom domain?” dialog by selecting “Remove domain.” Your wedding website stays reachable through your free link. In fact, your free link keeps working and redirects to your custom domain automatically the whole time it’s connected.

That’s it — your wedding website now lives on your own domain.
